Michael Bachmann is a passionate and driven entrepreneur and executive with more than 20+ years of experience in healthcare, biotech and medical devices. He built Copentown from scratch, a boutique consulting firm in healthcare, working with multiple partners including many in Big Pharma.

He was recognised for his varied contributions, including for developing the business case that paved the way for access to the Japanese market for a new and innovative portfolio.

Longing for big-pharma challenges Michael moved on to join a global Top-10 pharma company. Only two years into his tenure he was promoted to a senior management role overseeing the company’s most promising development compound – the world’s first GLP-1 analogue. As part of this responsibility, he played a central role on the Global Project Team that was tasked with developing the competitive Phase II and III trials that would set up the product for worldwide success. In the process he further developed his experience within drug development, regulatory submissions, and market access. Having completed the market and access preparations for this game-changer in healthcare, Michael was tasked with heading up head up the local launch preparations in the United Kingdom, a major market, as well as managing a larger marketing team there and thus spent two productive years in London.  He was recalled to HQ where he was selected to manage the company’s global strategic processes and projects, including growing the organic revenue base to >USD 15bn and overseeing a sizeable team. In this job Michael reported partly to the COO whom he also helped update the company’s critical management and governance structures.

The combination of experience gained both in Global and local roles – and along the entire value chain of drug development – offered Michael a unique insight and platform on which to build further. After >12 years’ worth of global industry experience, he decided to establish his own healthcare consulting business, which has been in existence for >15 years. Michael and his team continue to service Global pharma companies, as well as niche biotech companies with solutions in the strategy, comms, and market access spaces, as well as strategic alliance shaping and building. As part of his job, Michael regularly facilitates expert and other meetings around the world.
