Alejandra obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Biology in Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM, Madrid). She was recruited as researcher in the Endothelial Pathology Unit, The Ramón y Cajal Health Research Institute (IRYCIS, Madrid), investigating the effect of Mediterranean diet in endothelial function in metabolic syndrome patients without pharmacological treatment. Afterwards, she obtained a Master´s degree in Management and Development of Biomedical Technologies in Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3III, Spain). She worked as a research collaborator in Renal, Vascular and Diabetes Research Laboratory, Fundación Jiménez Díaz Institute (IIS FJD, Madrid), studying kidney disease. Subsequently, Alejandra obtained a PhD in Pharmacology and Physiology at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM, Spain), where focused neurological disease, specifically stroke. During this period, she collaborated as an international researcher in the laboratory of Physiopathology and Imaging of Neurological Disorders, Institute INSERMU (Caen, France).

Alejandra is co-author of several scientific papers published in international journals and has participated in multicentric research projects and technology transfer activities.
